What did you do on the weekend

Well it is a lovely sunday night here on the mornington peninsula in victoria. What a perfect way to end the weekend. What did everyone get up to on the weekend. I headed down to phillip island for the weekend with my partner.

Although the weather was not the best we still managed to keep ourselves entertained. We arrived there yesterday being saturday. We just had a relaxing afternoon headed down the street went into an art and craft gallery where i got to see lots of local artists handmade work i even purchased a couple of things including a ring, a handpainted doorstop and a handmade christmas decoration and then we came back and had a nice relaxing spa.

The weather today was not a lot better but at least it wasn't raining. We got up and headed off to the vietnam veterans museum then later on we went to panny's chocolate factory which was great, we did the tour and got to eat some amazing chocolate. Well that is my weekend in a nutshell now i would love to hear about yours.

My Creative Space

This week in my creative space with only 4 and a half weeks to go it is all about getting ready for christmas. I have the christmas decorations happening and on the 1st of december the christmas tress will certainly go up. I just love this festive time of year, setting up the christmas tree, making the christmas decorations being able to eat whatever you want because you actually have an excuse and ofcourse spending time with family and friends.

This is my cross stitch christmas decoration hopefully this will be finished by christmas at the moment it is a work in progress. I have about six of these to do but am aiming for at least one a year as it is very time consuming and i have other things on the go at the same time.

This is my beaded fabric decoration. I learnt how to do these at a workshop at the craft and sewing show earlier in the year. I have since been trying to find the little heart buttons that i have sewn on the front with not much luck as yet.

Here is some more fabric that i will eventually turn into more fabric decorations

Everytime i ask for feedback on my images i always get told to lighten them and use photo editing programs. I have tried every which was and i never seem to be happy with the final result. So I recently bought myself a light tent and adobe photoshop in hopes of proving my images.Here is the final result i would love to get some feedback and here what you all think.

I'm into working with polymer clay and i keep making items and have all these shaper etc that are lyeing around so i thought it was about time i do something with them. After experimenting with what i could make seeing as i mostly make earring i decided to have a go at a necklace which was fine until it came time to put the clasp on. This was not an easy task for me i was trying to use crimp beads but they are apparently no good with beading thread. After much pondering and many hours of frustration i decided to used knots to finish off my project, here is the final piece.

This week in my creative space i have been working on a couple of new things after finishing my dress, my bag and another top last week. This week i started on creating another bag of the same kind just different colour combinations. I have used pink colours yet again as shown below. So far i have managed to cut out the fabric get the interfacing on and i have almost finished the pockets.

Also this week i have started making a new dress, the pattern for this style of dress is shown below. The fabric i have decided to use for this is a linen fabric with a bemsilk lining in blue. Hopefully will have colours up next week to show you.

I have been working on a few things this week, done a little bit of bag making, cross stitching and i finished a dress that i have been making for quite some time now, ran into a few problems with it so had to make some adjustments.

Here is the final product of the dress that i have been working on, it has taken me a while to make i had to go back and make some adjustments to the dress because i am not a very tall person i found the midriff section was too long therefore the dress did not fit properly as it was not in proportion to the rest of my figure. After making these adjustments i finally managed to get the buttons and the final touches done on it last weekend.

I have also recently got into doing some bag making and have discovered that i actually really enjoy it and plan to do some more of it. Here is the final product of my first ever bag, not bad for a first attempt, i think it worked out quite while. Had a few problems putting the gussetts in but now know how to do them for next time.

In the rest of my spare time i also love to do crosstitching and needlework, at the moment i am working on a cat cross stitch and will have photos up of that as i progress through it some more.

Creating a gusset in a bag

I am currently making a bag and i found it quite an easy task until i got to the point where i had to insert a gusset. I was really not quite sure what a gusset was as i had never completed one before so i looked it up in my books and on google but couldn't really come up with anything that would help me complete the task. Next i went to the forums in which case somewher there pointed out a link to me of how to go about completing one. For everyone who may need some help completing this here it is.

Here is how i completed the task.

Here is my basic outside of the bag where i have sewn both the main panels together all around the bag.

Next align the right side seam with the bottom side seam forming a triangle as shown above.

Once you have done this you can chop a little off in order for the bag to sit flat.

Here is the final product showing the square corners on the bag, there are seams coming out from the corners that look a little like darts, however they are hard to see from the photo, you need to be close up in order to see them.

Well i really have no idea whether i am doing this right but i think i have missed the my creative space for this week which usually runs on a thursday but decided i would write it anyway coz i would like to share my lovely creations with all of you. This week has been a pretty good week, i did some work with polymer clay this week experimenting with skinner blend and then rolling it up into logs and cutting it into slices, these can be used to create perhaps a necklace or a bracelet or even some earrings.

I also managed to finish off my horse longstitch this week which was very exciting now all it needs is a frame.

I Started making my first ever quilt this week so it is a work in progress and so far i have manage to stitch some squares together and sew 2 rows together, i am very proud of this achievement.

Stitches and Craft Show

I attended the stitches and craft show yesterday for the first time, i quite enjoyed looking around at all the different stalls in order to gain some inspiration and ideas for future project and i got to see all the products that were on offer to buy, i ended up coming away with some pattern drafting software and a few books, including crocheted jewellery, loom beading and creating with polymer clay. I look forward to going back next year and i recommend it to others as well.

Fimo Jewellery Accessories

So i spent most of my week this week searching online for these fimo jewellery accessories after seeing them in a you tube video and the manufacturer in germany does not sell directly to the public. I looked for ages and turns out not many places stock them, after much searching i finally found a website where i could buy them and even paid and everything then they told me they don't ship to Australia. How dodgey does that sound. There were a couple of other websites but each only kept one size but at least i know they are available now and hopefully will be able to get them more locally in the future.

Just Dance Nintendo Wii

Has anyone tried out the Nintendo Wii Just Dance, i bought it last week and it happens to be some good exercise. Who says you can't have fun and exercise at the same time right? I only had to be dancing for 15 minutes to work up a sweat, but it was still a lot of fun.
